Arsenal forward Alessia Russo is convinced Stina Blackstenius winning strike was written in the stars after the Sweden international’s best mate Frida Maanum had collapsed during the 1-0 League Cup final victory over Chelsea.

Blackstenius broke the deadlock in extra time, in front of a competition final record 21,462 at Molineux, after Maanum, who was off the ball, had fallen to the ground in second-half stoppage time. She was quickly treated by paramedics and removed from the pitch on a stretcher, replaced by Russo.

Arsenal issued an update early in the first 15-minute period of extra-time, confirming Maanum was conscious, talking and in a stable condition and will be closely monitored by the club’s medical team.

There s plenty of speculation going around when it comes to Wilfried Zaha and his future. The 29-year-old will be out of contract with Crystal Palace at the end of this season and having wanted to leave in the past, it s believed he will not be at Selhurst Park in 2023/24.

However, Zaha insists that at the moment, he is fully focused on doing well for Patrick Vieira s team.

Leeds United have lost patience with manager Simon Grayson, sacking him after three years in charge at Elland Road.

The former Blackpool boss led Leeds to promotion from League One in his first full season before securing a seventh-placed finish in the Championship last term.

But the board dismissed the 42-year-old on Wednesday in the wake of Tuesday s 4-1 home defeat to promotion rivals Birmingham, which saw them slump to 10th in the table.

Youth team boss Neil Redfearn will take over the first team on an interim basis.

Grayson left his post at Blackpool to take over the role at Leeds in December 2008 following the sacking of Gary McAllister.

Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels has revealed he has no intention of leaving Signal Iduna Park despite ongoing speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

The Germany international, 25, has been attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, and Real Madrid after helping Germany win the World Cup in Brazil in the summer.

Despite such speculation, Hummels seems perfectly happy at Dortmund, and rightly so. He has spent the last six years with the club, reaching the UEFA Champions League final in 2012/13 and winning the Bundesliga in 2010/11 and 2011/12.
